More Focus Practice

Concord, NC  2023

I'm getting better, but I still need some practice in tracking moving objects.

Focus Practice

Concord, NC,  2023

Getting the right focus is much more difficult when the subject is moving.  The movement here is pretty predictable, so the auto focus was able to track the subject.  I have a new appreciation for sports photographers, and those who capture birds in flight.  I have a lot examples, where I just missed the focus entirely, once the carousel started moving.

Carousel

Concord, NC  2023

I'm still learning about my new camera.  This carousel in a local shopping mall gave me some practice in the various focus modes and focus areas on the camera.  It's easy to get decent focus when the carousel is not moving.

Hammock

Ballantyne, Charlotte, NC  2023

I think all corporate business parks should provide hammocks for those who work there.  This is one of many scattered throughout the green spaces of Ballantyne.

The Buildings of Ballantyne, Charlotte, NC

Ballantyne, Charlotte, NC  2023

Ballantyne is a very affluent neighborhood in the city of Charlotte where one can find many hotel, businesses, shopping centers, and restaurants.

The Neighborhood

Waxhaw, NC  2023

It has been a year since we moved into our new house.  This is the view from my backyard.  At this time last year, none of the houses you see were here.  There are still a few things needing to be done by the city to complete this development, but all the houses are finished.

Landscaping

Waxhaw, NC  2023

I'm not sure where the month of September went.  I realized I hadn't posted anything during that time, for one reason or another.  As hard as I tried, I never really enjoyed taking pictures with my iPhone, even though it does take great images.  It's very useful as a camera of convenience since you always have it with you.  Missing the feel and and enjoyment of a traditional DLSR, I finally made the switch to  new mirrorless Nikon Z5 to replace my old Nikon D90, which served me well.  I'm still learning how to use the  Z5, but I thought I'd post some first images.  These are JPEGS, pretty much straight from the camera with little post processing.
