Burn Off

I featured the Ballantyne area of Charlotte recently, a large residential, retail and corporate park.  On this particular visit I was surprised to see this flame erupting behind a stand of trees.  I think it's a burn off of natural gas from some sort of utility.  I couldn't get any closer to see the base of the flame.  It burned for quite some time and definitely looked out of place in this area.

There's a shop in downtown Waxhaw that sells yarns and supplies for those who knit or crochet.  They also offer classes.  Some of the more whimsical creations are displayed as murals outside the shop

Happy Fourth of July

I'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems that as we approached America's 250th Anniversary, that patriotic displays are a bit subdued this year.  I thought I would see more flags and bunting.  Perhaps it's a reflection of the current state of our country this year.  Nevertheless, Happy Fourth of July!!
