All water around my neighborhood eventually finds its way into Twelve Mile Creek and then the Catawba River.  I think small streams like this result from run-off from the developments around this area and probably weren't here before development.  Even these small streams can change the natural landscape.

Infrastructure

I find structures like this as I walk the trails in this area.  There are housing developments all around these trails so I think it must be a part of the sewer system that serves this area.  I wonder who plans these things, and why they seem to be out in the middle of nowhere.  This seems to have been here awhile, and I see no evidence of any nearby construction.  How did it get here, without disturbing the surrounding forest?  Or has the forest reclaimed any signs of the construction needed to put this here?
