NC/SC Boundary 2025
The border between North Carolina and South Carolina has had a contentious history and wasn't totally resolved until 2017 after decades of modern surveying, studying historical maps and litigation. The irregular stone pictured here was erected in 1813 and marks the border of Union County, NC and Lancaster County, SC. It was placed on the US National Register of Historic Places in 1984. One can make out NC, engraved on the face of the stone in the bottom picture.
