Discovery Place - Nature Center

Day 2 of our visit to the Discovery Place Museums in Charlotte took us to their nature center, located just a short way from uptown Charlotte.  This museum featured more nature and had some animals on display, as well as this nice nature trail.  It was hard believe this is all located in a pretty upscale neighborhood of Charlotte.

Discovery Place had a separate exhibit featuring the characters of the Marvel Universe.  I was never a big fan of Marvel comics, but seeing this guy almost made me want to see the rest of the exhibit.  Clara had no interest whatsoever.

One exhibit in the museum is this indoor rain forest.  With the recent weather being as hot as it has been, I think this rain forest would be ok outdoors.  We were in the high '90's all last week with high humidity, similar to this rain forest. 

Run, Clara, Run

Here's Clara trying to run as fast as she can.  She's certainly a lot faster than her grandpa!!

 

Vacuum Chair Lift

Here's Clara sitting on a chair lift.  Vacuum pump above the chair creates a vacuum and the surrounding air pressure is enough to lift the chair as shown below.  Pretty cool for an 8 year old.
