I have been trying to develop the skill to see in black and white. The large office buildings in the Ballantyne as well as the parks and trails render well in black and white and make for interesting subjects.

Burn Off
Ballantyne, Charlotte, NC 2026
I featured the Ballantyne area of Charlotte recently, a large residential, retail and corporate park. On this particular visit I was surprised to see this flame erupting behind a stand of trees. I think it's a burn off of natural gas from some sort of utility. I couldn't get any closer to see the base of the flame. It burned for quite some time and definitely looked out of place in this area.

I walk these trails everyday, often times with my camera. I tend to photograph the same subjects but at different times, lighting conditions and slightly different point of view. Even though the subjects are the same, each photograph is unique.
