More Hummingbirds

To keep up with the demand, we upgraded our hummingbird feeder to a large capacity model. I think the birds were happy. This little guy posed a bit for me before flying off. They are not very cooperative when it comest to posing though. However they are hungry. It only took a couple of days for the nectar to reach the low-levels seen here.

Fairmont Speeder

I had never seen anything like this before. The vehicle is a motorized successor to the classic railroad hand carts and is known as a Fairmont Speeder. The were used to move along railroad tracks to allow the tracks to be inspected.

These tracks are long out of service but once were used to move supplies in and out of the five army warehouses that were here. Nature is reclaiming this area.

Uptown Charlotte

Camp North End
One reason I wanted to visit Camp North End was for the fine views of "uptown" Charlotte. I was not disappointed. I learned shortly after we moved here that the center of Charlotte is referred to as "Uptown Charlotte" and never as "Downtown Charlotte".
