The bodies of 84 patriots are buried here. Another 25 bodies are buried nearby, although the location of that grave has been lost to time. The fence was put in place after the obelisk was defaced. The original inscription on the obelisk is perserved on a memorial stone near by.
Your post lead me to read about the massacre. It is a sad story all around.
