Discovery Place - Charlotte

Discovery Place is a science museum located in uptown Charlotte. It features many hands-on exhibits designed to appeal to children and get them excited about math and science. This display shows some of the many projects the kids have created at the museum. Being good grandparents, we just had to take our granddaughter Clara to the museum last week.

This was the scene from my backyard patio last evening, shortly after the end of a summer thunderstorm. I was fortunate to be able to see both ends of the rainbow. Photographers with much more skill than I could do these rainbows more justice

Crossing Guard

Pedestrians would take these flags and wave them when they needed to cross a busy street at a crosswalk. They have been replaced with electronic warning lights at the crosswalks, activated by a push of a button that stops traffic allowing the pedestrians to cross.
