iPhone Long Exposure
Rock Hill, SC 2023
Since my DSLR died a little while ago, I've been learning about all the capabilities of the camera in the new iPhone 14. One feature captures a 3 sec video clip of a scene starting 1.5 sec before and ending 1.5 sec after the picture is captured. Using this feature one can edit the photo to simulate a long exposure as shown above. Many of you might already know this, but it was news to me. While the iPhone has a very remarkable camera, I don't find it as much fun to use as a dedicated DSLR.

This replica is a meeting house or church typical in the mid 1700's. Today it's used to host small events in the state park.

Jackson Birthplace(s)
Andrew Jackson State Park, Lancaster, SC 2023
Both North Carolina and South Carolina claim to be the birthplace of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States. This marker, located in the Andrew Jackson State Park, South Carolina is inscribed with Jackson's own words claiming to be a native of South Carolina. He based his claim on what was told to him by his relatives. He was brought up on the land encompassed by the state park that at one time was owned by his uncle James Crawford.
In North Carolina, less than 3 miles from the stone shown above is the memorial pictured below.
Waxhaw, NC 2021
This memorial says, "Here was born, March 15, 1767, Andrew Jackson, Seventh President of the United States. The memorial was erected in 1910 by the Daughters of the American Revolution, but really has not been maintained very well, and is a little difficult to find. In fact, you can only get to this memorial from South Carolina. Although first to claim Jackson as a native son, North Carolina has done nothing to dispute the claims of South Carolina. There is some oral tradition told by Mrs Sarah Lathen, whose mother was present as a midwife during the birth saying that Jackson was born in the cabin of George McCamie located at this site in North Carolina. Complicating matters is the fact that the state line back in 1767 had not been drawn.
It's obvious South Carolina cares more about Jackson than North Carolina.

Andrew Jackson State Park
Lancaster, The Waxhaw, SC 2023
I visited the Andrew Jackson State Park and Museum recently. Both North Carolina and South Carolina claim to be the birthplace of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States. The state park is on land once owned by Jackson's uncle James Crawford. The lower image is a replica of a school house that was typical in Jackson's day.

Antiques?
Waxhaw, NC 2023
I don't think anything younger than I am should be considered an "antique". I think some of these items would fall into that category. They look too new to me.
